The Occupational English Test (OET) is a language test for overseas qualified health professionals.  The test is used to evaluate the English language competence of people who have trained as medical and health professionals in one country and wish to gain provisional registration to practice their profession in an English-speaking context.   It is also used for migration purposes.

The OET test assesses people who work in the fields of:-

Dentistry, Dietetics, Medicine, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Optometry, Pharmacy, Podiatry, Physiotherapy, Radiography, Speech Pathology, Veterinary Science.

The OET is made up of 4 separate tests.  These are:-

·         50 minute Listening Test

·         45 minute Writing Test

·         60 minute Reading Test

·         20 minute Speaking Test

The OET is currently used by the governing bodies of the professions at state and national level in Australia, New Zealand and Singapore.

To help you prepare for the OET test, it is a good idea to attend a one-to-one intensive OET preparation course, this will help you understand the requirements of the test and increase your overall score.
